MINIGAMES

GALAXY DAME

The first minigame of four, Galaxy Dame is a shooter game that increases in difficulty as the player earns more points. The player’s space jet follows the computer mouse, and on a click, shoots a bullet at the falling targets. After each milestone is met, the targets begin falling at faster speeds until the player can no longer keep up. Each time the target makes it to the base, the player loses 10 points of health, and once their health is depleted, they lose the game. For every thousand points, the user earns 1 ticket.

CAUGHT YOU!

The second minigame is Caught You!, a map navigation game in which the player is set at the beginning of an obscured maze. The objective is to reach the end of the maze before the timer runs out and get the higher score out of ten rounds. Every time the timer runs out before the player reaches the end, the opposing team gains a point and the player is returned to the start. Every time the player either reaches the end first or finds a hidden “Angel” in the maze and captures it, the player gets a point. The player gains a ticket for every two points they score.

CLAW GAME

To play the claw game user must first insert 2 tickets into the machine. Tickets can be gained from the other minigames on the map. The objective of the Claw Game is to get all the moving targets into the hole by the end of the timer. Each target has a randomized starting point within bounds, speed, and rest time where they stand in place. The claw has a set speed and moves by using WASD, except when it is doing its drop and lift animation every time the user presses space over a target. If all targets are captured within 20 seconds, the user gains one coin.

VENDING MACHINE

The player can buy important items for future fights and plot development at the vending machine. If they have enough coins they can purchase an item by hovering over each choice and choosing the one within their budget. If it is too expensive, the vending machine will let them know. Occasionally, if story checkpoints have been reached, the vending machine will drop plot-progressive items. There is also an inventory feature from which the user can check their current items, tickets, and coins and use/toss items.

SIDE-SCROLL MINIMAPS

A feature of many plot-progressive scenes where players are given complex, ending-changing choices within side-scroll maps.

FIGHTS

Two main turn-based boss fights. The fight sequences have three main actions; ‘Silence,’ ‘Item,’ and ‘Attack.’ The Player stats consist of health, strength, and ‘distortion.’ The attack feature applies the player’s current strength and attacks the boss. If the player relentlessly attacks 3 times in a row, their ‘distortion’ is raised by one. Once the distortion level reaches 2, the fight visuals begin to distort and change. It continues to distort until the player reaches distortion level four which automatically loses their fight. The item button allows the player to use the items they obtained from the vending machine to heal, add strength, or decrease their distortion levels. The ‘Silence’ button decreases the player’s distortion level. Each action button takes one player’s turn, and on the enemy’s turn, the player must unscramble a word correctly to dodge the attack or take damage if they fail. The player wins upon bringing the enemy’s health to zero.

MUSIC

The soundtrack consists of 16+ originally composed soundtracks following a distinct 1970s-80s arcade theme or are inspired by J-rpgs. Some short samples of a few main tracks can be found above. All tracks were made using Audacity and Garageband. Full soundtrack will be released on YouTube along with the game release
